E10, a fuel made up of 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol, will last around 3 months. Pure gasoline will also be affected by evaporation and oxidation but at a much slower rate. Unadulterated gas is also hydrophilic, meaning it repels water. These properties result in pure gasoline lasting at least 6 months if stored optimally.
I like to keep it empty, as DEF has a shelf life. I buy bulk DEF, around $12 at a time, when I get to around 1/4 tank. The 4 gallons last me roughly 6000 miles, although I honestly don't keep track. Could last me longer.
Moreover, the cylinders which propane is stored also have an extremely long shelf life. This is why propane cylinders are required to be recertified periodically by a qualified propane professional. Getting 30 or 40 years out of a stored propane tank is quite feasible when cylinder maintenance is properly adhered to.
