The XR is BMW’s sportiest adventure bike. The rider position is more upright and you’ve got moderate wind protection. The engine in the S1000XR is a high-revving inline-4, while the R1250R is a big, thumping boxer twin. The R1250 engine is big on torque. It’s very flexible, but doesn’t sing like the S1000.
