Even if that wasn't the cause of the message, you've swapped it out now so registration should be done. The replace key fob/remote battery message is pretty clear that it means the fob.

BST = Battery Safety Terminal. If there's a serious-enough crash, it'll blow out the battery cable, so there's no chance of a spark igniting any spilled fuel.
