Optima now claims to have a vented battery for hybrids. I even had pic of one installed in Prius, with tube connected to vent nipple. You'll have to call Optima on that, for some reason they do not have it posted on their site. Optima can be easily found around $170 or so. Also, to be honest, Duracell makes less expensive batteries without vent12V typically last 5 years under "normal operating conditions". Early symptoms of a low battery or one that isn't holding charge would be dimming of the headlights after you power off the car, but leaving the headlights on or when you try to start the car, the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree but then works the 2nd time.
